The Cyclone History database first came about in early 2016, and throughout the year all known cyclones began to be catalogued. Most of them had been uncovered by the second half of 2017, and work began on adding more data and information about the existing storms in the database. Its construction is a very slow process and is likely to take years. When finished, the database will contain over half a million data entries.
